The Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IChF PAN) is a leading research institution in Poland, exclusively focused on advancing the field of physical chemistry. It was established on March 19, 1955, as the first chemical institute within the Polish Academy of Sciences, with an initial mission to cultivate scientific talent and conduct research crucial for both chemical sciences and the national economy.

Prof. Wojciech Świętosławski served as its first Director, and the Institute has since undergone significant expansion, broadening its research scope and increasing its staff. Currently led by dr hab. Adam Kubas, IChF PAN is structured into multiple departments and independent teams exploring diverse areas, including physical chemistry of biological systems, soft matter, catalysis, and photochemistry. A notable initiative is the International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER), which partners with institutions like University College London and UC Irvine to develop innovative therapies and diagnostic tools for the human eye.
