"Without the One You Love (Life's Not Worth While)" is a 1964 Motown song by The Four Tops, penned by the legendary Holland–Dozier–Holland songwriting team. Released as the second single from their self-titled debut album, it was deliberately crafted to echo the successful sound and theme of their prior hit, "Baby I Need Your Loving." Despite this, the song was a commercial disappointment in the U.S., only reaching No. 43 on the Billboard Top 40, though it performed better on the Cashbox R&B Chart at No. 17.
Critics attributed its moderate chart performance to factors like its lengthy title and "overproduction" that sometimes overshadowed lead singer Levi Stubbs, yet it was still praised for being "marvelously sung" and creating "irresistible excitement." Notably, The Four Tops later revisited the song with The Supremes for their 1970 collaborative album, The Magnificent 7, featuring lead vocals from Jean Terrell and Levi Stubbs, with a single released in the UK in 1972.
