Thomas "Thibs" Thibodeau (born 1958) is a renowned American basketball coach celebrated for his defensive strategies, most recently serving as the head coach for the New York Knicks. His extensive career includes significant assistant coaching roles, such as winning the 2008 NBA Finals with the Boston Celtics and helping the U.S. men's national team secure a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. As a head coach, Thibodeau earned the NBA Coach of the Year award twice: in 2010 with the Chicago Bulls after a 62-win season, and again in 2021 for leading the New York Knicks to their first playoff berth in eight years. He further guided the Knicks to their first conference finals appearance in 25 years in 2025, although he was fired at the end of that season.
