Led by Lionel Messi, who captured the Landon Donovan MVP Award after scoring 20 goals and recording 36 total goal contributions, the team dominated the Eastern Conference. Off the pitch, the club rebranded their home venue as Chase Stadium after JPMorgan Chase acquired the naming rights, and they played preseason friendlies in El Salvador, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, and Japan.
