Disney Theatrical Productions: A Legacy on Broadway

Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP), also known as Disney on Broadway, was founded in 1993 by Ron Logan to bring Disney's iconic stories to the stage. Its inaugural production, Beauty and the Beast, premiered in 1994 to critical and financial success, and DTP's crucial 1994 investment in revitalizing the New Amsterdam Theatre significantly contributed to the resurgence of Broadway.

Under the longtime leadership of Thomas Schumacher, the company continued its impressive run with acclaimed musicals like The Lion King in 1997 and has explored a diverse range of projects, from Freaky Friday to potential adaptations of The Princess Bride. DTP has solidified its reputation for creating engaging and high-quality stage productions, adapting beloved animated classics and developing new works. In September 2023, Thomas Schumacher transitioned to Chief Creative Officer, with Anne Quart overseeing production and development, and Andrew Flatt managing business operations, marking a new chapter for this influential theatrical enterprise.
