The Fashion History Museum (FHM), a Canadian non-profit, was founded in 2004 by Jonathan Walford, a renowned collector and former Bata Shoe Museum curator, and Kenn Norman. For its first decade, the FHM showcased its extensive collection, which includes over 10,000 items ranging from a rare 1660 European shoe to Hollywood designer creations, through popular travelling exhibitions worldwide. In June 2015, the museum established a permanent gallery in a beautifully restored 1929 Hespeler Post Office in Cambridge, Ontario, a city with a rich textile manufacturing history.
This location served as its home until recently. Tragically, after being defunded by the City of Cambridge in 2023, the museum's lease was terminated in March 2025. All its valuable collections are now in storage as the FHM actively searches for new premises to continue chronicling the history of fashion.
