Michael Alford (born 1969) is a prominent figure in college athletics, having served as the athletic director for both Florida State University and Central Michigan University. His educational journey included transferring from Mississippi State to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (where he earned a bachelor's in communication) and later obtaining a master's degree in athletic administration from the University of Arkansas. Before his directorial roles, Alford held marketing positions with the University of Alabama, the Dallas Cowboys, and the University of Oklahoma. During his tenure at Central Michigan, he notably hired eight head coaches and guided the athletic department to a staggering 600% increase in revenue. He moved to Florida State after briefly serving as CEO of the Seminoles Boosters, replacing the retired David Coburn. However, his time at FSU concluded on September 14, 2026, when he was released from his position.
