Syracuse Orange football represents Syracuse University in the ACC, standing as the only Division I FBS school in New York competing in a Power Four conference, and plays its home games at the JMA Wireless Dome, affectionately known as "The Loud House." Founded in 1889, the program has amassed over 740 wins, captured a consensus national championship in 1959 by beating Texas in the Cotton Bowl, and made 29 bowl appearances (10 of which were New Year's Six bowls). The Orange have produced a Heisman Trophy winner, over 60 first-team All-Americans, and more than 240 NFL players, finishing in the final Top 25 polls 21 times. Their storied history includes 20 College Football Hall of Famers (such as Ernie Davis and coach Vic Hanson) and 9 Pro Football Hall of Famers (including Jim Brown, Marvin Harrison, and Dwight Freeney). Early on, the team was a pioneer in integration, featuring African-American starter Wilmeth Sidat-Singh in the 1930s, and was home to the legendary multi-sport athlete Vic Hanson, one of only two people inducted into both the Basketball and College Football Halls of Fame.
