The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a premier autonomous institute in India, established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, offering comprehensive courses in fashion, technology, and management. It gained statutory status in 2006 via an Indian Parliamentary Act, empowering it to grant its own degrees. NIFT has made notable contributions, including designing the new digital disruptive pattern camouflage uniform for the Indian Army in 2022 and collaborating on an India-specific size chart.

Operating from its New Delhi head office, NIFT has expanded its presence to 19 campuses across the country, starting from humble beginnings in Indraprastha Stadium to the latest opening in Varanasi in 2024. The institute offers a diverse array of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various specializations in design, technology, and management, alongside extensive lab and student facilities.
