NaVorro Bowman (born May 28, 1988) is a former American football linebacker who played eight NFL seasons, primarily with the San Francisco 49ers, after being drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft out of Penn State. A standout at Suitland High School in Maryland, he earned Defensive Player of the Year honors before leading the Nittany Lions in tackles during his 2008 college season. One of his most memorable performances came in the 2009 Rose Bowl, where he broke the school's bowl record with five tackles for loss—just one day after his high school coach died in a car accident. In the NFL, he became a full-time starter for the 49ers in 2011, recording standout games like 11 tackles against the Dallas Cowboys, and later spent time with the Oakland Raiders. After retiring, he transitioned into coaching, most recently serving as the linebackers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers.
