Edmond Memorial High School, located in Edmond, Oklahoma, began as Edmond High School, graduating its first class of just 24 students in 1922. The school was renamed in 1975 to honor six alumni killed in the Vietnam War and split into three rival schools in 1994 due to rapid population growth. In a quirky 1998 incident, three students set off a pipe bomb attempting to destroy the school's fiberglass bulldog mascot, but the bulldog survived intact. Academically, it earned the prestigious Blue Ribbon School Award in 2001-02 and the Siemens Foundation award in 2008 for its exceptional Advanced Placement test scores in science and math. More recently, the school has claimed state championships in volleyball, softball, and esports, and counts notable figures like Hall of Fame basketball coach Bill Self and Olympic gold medalist Micha Hancock among its alumni.
