Julián Alvarez (born 31 January 2000) is an Argentine forward who currently plays for Atlético Madrid and the Argentina national team. He made his professional debut with River Plate in 2018, where he won the 2018 Copa Libertadores and was named South American Footballer of the Year in 2021 after finishing as the league's top scorer. In 2022, he joined Manchester City, winning a historic continental treble (Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League) in his debut season. He transferred to Atlético Madrid in 2024 in a club-record departure deal worth up to €95 million. Internationally, he has won the 2021 Copa América, 2022 Finalissima, 2022 FIFA World Cup, and 2024 Copa América, becoming the first player in history to win the World Cup and a continental treble in the same season.
