Atlético San Luis

Club Atlético de San Luis is a professional Mexican football club based in San Luis Potosí that competes in Liga MX at their home stadium, Estadio Alfonso Lastras. Founded in 2013 after the original San Luis F.C. was relocated away from the city, the club is considered a resurrection of that team, proudly keeping its traditional blue and gold colors. Starting in the second-tier Ascenso MX, the club won promotion to the top division in 2019 by sweeping the season and winning the Campeón de Ascenso. A major turning point occurred in March 2017 when Spanish powerhouse Atlético Madrid acquired a 50% controlling stake, aiming to develop academy talents in Mexico. Since reaching the top flight, they have grown competitive, advancing to the semi-finals in the Apertura 2023 season before losing to eventual champions América.
