Prashant Tamang (1983–2026) was an Indian singer and film actor who achieved widespread fame as the winner of Indian Idol Season 3 in 2007. Originally a Kolkata Police constable, he joined the competition after encouragement from friends and seniors, subsequently garnering unprecedented public support. Tamang secured a landslide victory with an astonishing 70 million votes, making him the only contestant never to fall into the bottom three or four during the gala rounds.

Dubbed "Pride of the Hills," his journey captivated audiences, particularly in West Bengal, Sikkim, and among Nepalese communities worldwide, who organised massive voting campaigns. He married Geeta Thapa in 2011 and continued his career in entertainment. Prashant Tamang passed away from a cardiac arrest on January 11, 2026, at the age of 43.
