AC/DC, the iconic Australian rock band, was formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. Renowned for their high-energy "rock and roll" sound, they quickly gained a following but faced tragedy in 1979 when lead singer Bon Scott died. English singer Brian Johnson swiftly joined, and their subsequent album, Back in Black (1980), became the second best-selling album of all time, a testament to their incredible resilience.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, having sold over 200 million records worldwide, making them one of history's best-selling artists. Despite Malcolm Young's retirement and subsequent death in 2017 due to dementia, and numerous other lineup changes including Axl Rose filling in for Brian Johnson, AC/DC has consistently demonstrated an enduring spirit. They continued their remarkable legacy with their seventeenth studio album, Power Up, released in 2020, and announced a new supporting tour in 2024.
