The UEFA European Football Championship, commonly known as the Euro, is Europe's premier international football tournament for men's national teams, organized by UEFA. Held every four years since 1960, with a postponement in 2020 to 2021 due to the pandemic, it is the world's second-most watched football tournament; the Euro 2016 final alone garnered around 600 million viewers.
The concept was first proposed in 1927 by Henri Delaunay, whose namesake trophy is now awarded to the champions, with the inaugural 1960 tournament won by the Soviet Union. Spain holds the record for the most titles with four, including the most recent UEFA Euro 2024 where they defeated England 2-1 in Germany, and is also the only team to have won consecutive titles (2008 and 2012). Other successful nations include Germany with three titles, and Italy and France with two each, among the ten national teams who have lifted the prestigious trophy.
