Jan Ingvald Meidell Haaland

Jan Ingvald Meidell Haaland (born 18 February 1956) is a Norwegian economist and academic administrator. He served as rector of the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) from 2005 to 2017, succeeding Per Ivar Gjærum.

Haaland received his Master of Science in Economics (siv.øk.) from NHH in 1979 and his Doctor of Philosophy from the same institution in 1984. His research primarily focuses on international trade, including international economics and politics, economic integration, and multinational corporations.

In addition to his tenure at NHH, Haaland has held positions at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the University of Cambridge, and the University of Southampton. He is also an associate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London.

During his career, Haaland served as Dean of the Department of Economics at NHH from 1999 to 2001 and as a member of NHH's board of directors from 2002 to 2017. He has also received several awards and honors for his contributions to economics.

Haaland's research and administrative work have made him a respected figure in the field of economics, both in Norway and internationally. His expertise in international trade and economic integration continues to influence policy and decision-making in the global economic landscape.
