Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell (born March 21, 1962) is an American comedian, actress, and talk show host who first gained national fame after a breakthrough on Star Search in 1984, later hosting The Rosie O'Donnell Show (1996–2002), which won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards and earned her the nickname "Queen of Nice." After coming out as a lesbian in 2002, she became a prominent advocate for LGBT rights and gay adoption, was named The Advocate's Person of the Year, and used a $3 million book advance for her memoir Find Me to establish the For All foundation. Her career took a controversial turn during a 2006–2007 run on The View, where she engaged in a public feud with future president Donald Trump and clashed over the Iraq War. She later hosted The Rosie Show (2011–2012) and starred in the Showtime series SMILF (2017–2019), while also authoring several memoirs. In early 2025, shortly after Trump's second inauguration, she moved to Ireland and applied for citizenship by descent, prompting Trump to threaten revoking her U.S. birthright citizenship in July 2025. Her early life was marked by tragedy, including her mother's death from breast cancer in 1973 and her father's abuse, which she has publicly discussed.
