Arrested Development

Arrested Development is an American satirical sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz that debuted on Fox on November 2, 2003, chronicling the dysfunctional, formerly wealthy Bluth family. The show was groundbreaking for its serialized storytelling, handheld camera work, and the omniscient narration of Ron Howard, who also served as executive producer and later appeared as a fictionalized version of himself. Inspired by corporate scandals like Enron, the series earned critical acclaim, winning six Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest TV shows of all time, influencing later comedies such as 30 Rock and Community. Despite its praise, it suffered from low ratings and was canceled by Fox in 2006, but Netflix revived it in 2013 as one of its first original programs, followed by a fifth season released in two parts in May 2018 and March 2019. The production involved a bidding war between Fox and NBC, and featured notable casting choices like Will Arnett as Gob and Liza Minnelli, who was personally recruited by Ron Howard to play Lucille 2.
