O. J. Brigance
Orenthial James Brigance (1969–2026) was a professional football player who achieved a rare feat: winning both the CFL Grey Cup and the NFL Super Bowl for the same city—Baltimore. After graduating from Rice University, he played for the BC Lions and then the Baltimore Stallions, where he recorded 20 sacks in 1993 and helped the team win the 1995 Grey Cup. He later moved to the NFL, playing for the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, and St. Louis Rams, and was a key special teams contributor to the Ravens' Super Bowl XXXV victory. Diagnosed with ALS in 2007, he founded the Brigance Brigade Foundation to support ALS research and received the 2016 NCAA Inspiration Award. He served as the Ravens' director of player development from 2004 until his passing on August 17, 2026, after a nearly two-decade battle with the disease.
