Kent Emanuel (born June 4, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher currently in the Cincinnati Reds organization, having previously played in MLB for the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins. A standout at the University of North Carolina, he was named the ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Year in 2013 before being drafted by the Astros in the third round. In 2020, he was suspended 80 games for a positive PED test, which he publicly protested via a viral Instagram video, even wearing uniform number 0 to symbolize the games he felt he didn't deserve. He made his MLB debut on April 24, 2021, throwing a remarkable 8⅔ innings in relief to earn the win—the first pitcher to pitch more than eight innings in relief since 1988—but his season ended in June due to elbow surgery. After subsequent stints with the Phillies and Pirates organizations, he has continued his career, most recently joining the Reds.
