Nathanael Bargatze (born March 25, 1979) is an American stand-up comedian known for his clean, deadpan, and monotone delivery, and he became the highest-grossing stand-up comic in 2024, selling over a million tickets. Raised in a devoutly religious household in Nashville, Tennessee, he was inspired by his father, a former clown and magician, and later by the radio show The Bob & Tom Show, which led him to quit his job as a water meter-reader to pursue comedy in 2002. After a brief stint in Chicago, he moved to New York City in 2004, where he worked as a barker for the Boston Comedy Club to earn stage time, eventually seeing legends like Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr perform. His career turned a corner in 2008 with appearances on Live at Gotham and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, followed by extensive USO tours for troops in Iraq and Kuwait. He won both the New York and Boston Comedy Festivals in 2010 and released his first 30-minute special in 2011, cementing his rise from performing for single-digit crowds to global success.
