CD Guadalajara, widely known as Chivas de Guadalajara, is a historic Mexican football club based in Jalisco that competes in Liga MX and is famously the only club in Mexico that fields exclusively players of Mexican descent. Founded in 1906 by Edgar Everaert as Unión FC, it was renamed Guadalajara in 1908 and is a founding member of the top division, having never been relegated. The club has won 12 Liga MX titles, 4 Copa MX titles, and 2 CONCACAF Champions Cup titles, and holds the league record for eight consecutive wins to start a season (Bicentenario 2010). It is the most popular club in Mexico, holding 44.2% of supporters in 2016, and was valued at roughly $311.5 million by Forbes in 2020, making it the most valuable in the league. Its famous "cantera" (youth academy) has produced stars like Javier Hernández and Carlos Vela, while its fierce local rivalry with Atlas, the Clásico Tapatío, is one of the oldest in Mexican football.
