She first made headlines as a junior in 2017 by reaching the semifinals at the US Open, and she made her WTA Tour debut in 2016. In 2023, Arango broke through on the big stage at the Guadalajara Open, defeating three opponents to become the first Colombian to reach a WTA 1000 quarterfinal since Fabiola Zuluaga in 2004.
