Ed Bassmaster (born February 4, 1973) is an American YouTuber from Northeast Philadelphia, known for his prank comedy and a wide cast of eccentric characters. He began posting videos in 2006, but shot to widespread fame in 2015 when he and fellow YouTuber Jesse Wellens created a fake surveillance video claiming to show the destruction of the Canadian hitchhiking robot hitchBOT—a hoax that fooled several news organizations. His character "Skippy" even made headlines in 2013 after being kicked off stage at the YouTube Comedy Week event. This success led to the CMT reality-TV series The Ed Bassmaster Show, which premiered on April 14, 2016, featuring his characters pranking unsuspecting people. Despite his online fame, Bassmaster remains a married father of four, still residing in his hometown of Northeast Philadelphia.
