10TV is a Telugu-language 24-hour news channel launched on 16 March 2013 to serve the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its most distinctive feature was its funding model: backed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), it was crowdfunded by 1.65–2 lakh people—including teachers, bank employees, and daily laborers—who each invested ₹500–4,000, positioning it as an independent, co-operative venture free from big business influence, with the tagline 'News is People'. The first chairman was Marxist-leaning journalism professor K. Nageswar, while Arun Sagar served as the initial CEO, and the channel invested an estimated ₹30–60 crore before launch. However, in August 2018, the ownership changed hands, with reports indicating it was bought by business houses close to politicians, though then-CEO Gottipati Singa Rao denied the specific buyers and claimed he and other investors acquired shares. Among its notable programming is 'Bakasura', where a presenter dressed as the demon exposes land encroachments, highlighting the channel's focus on grassroots issues.
