Garrett Nussmeier is an American professional football quarterback who was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round (249th overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft after a standout college career at LSU. The son of NFL coach and former player Doug Nussmeier, Garrett moved 12 times growing up, living in eight states and Canada, before starring at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas. At LSU, he initially competed with Jayden Daniels, earned MVP honors in the 2024 Reliaquest Bowl, and led the Tigers to a 9–4 record as the starting quarterback in 2024. However, his return for a senior season was marred by an abdominal injury and inconsistent play, leading to him being benched in favor of Michael Van Buren Jr. Off the field, he is a Christian and announced his engagement to his high school sweetheart, Ella Springfield, in July 2025.
