José "Pepe" Bordalás (born 5 March 1964) is a Spanish football manager, currently in charge of La Liga club Getafe. His playing career was cut short by injury at age 28, having never made a first-team appearance for his boyhood club Hércules. As a manager, he achieved back-to-back promotions to La Liga with Alavés (2015-16) and Getafe (2016-17), and in 2019 he led Getafe to a best-ever fifth-place finish, earning the Miguel Muñoz Trophy for his efforts. He managed Valencia in 2021-22, reaching the Copa del Rey final (lost on penalties to Real Betis), but was dismissed in June 2022. He returned to Getafe in April 2023 to save them from relegation, and after a successful campaign that saw them qualify for the UEFA Conference League, he renewed his contract in June 2026. Bordalás is widely known and frequently criticized for his highly defensive and aggressive "anti-football" tactics, often employed against stronger opponents.
