Netflix officially entered the world of professional football when it began broadcasting National Football League (NFL) games in the 2024 season, starting with a three-year deal focused on Christmas Day matchups branded as NFL Christmas Gameday. These event-style broadcasts are known for their entertainment components, featuring halftime shows by major artists like Beyoncé (2024) and Snoop Dogg (2025), alongside celebrity correspondents from Netflix original programming. In a major expansion announced on May 13, 2026, Netflix renewed its rights through 2029, adding a Week 1 international game (the Rams vs. 49ers in Melbourne, Australia on September 11, 2026), a Wednesday "Thanksgiving Eve" game, and a Week 18 Saturday matchup to its slate. Starting in 2027, the platform will also air at least one Christmas game per year and become the exclusive broadcaster of the NFL Honors—the league's annual awards ceremony. The broadcasts are co-produced by CBS Sports and EverWonder Studio, and due to NFL rules, the games are simulcast on local over-the-air television stations in the participating teams' home markets.
