Randal Grichuk (born August 13, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder currently playing for the Chicago White Sox, having previously suited up for seven other MLB teams including the Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Yankees. Selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the first round (24th overall) of the 2009 draft—one pick ahead of Mike Trout—he made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2014 after being traded in November 2013. Before turning pro, Grichuk was a high school phenom at Lamar Consolidated in Texas, batting a staggering .613 with 21 home runs in 2009, and he had earlier competed in the 2003 and 2004 Little League World Series. His minor league path was marred by unusual injuries (a torn ligament, fractured kneecap, and broken wrist), yet he still earned a 2013 Minor League Gold Glove Award. He hit his first big-league home run off Mark Buehrle in June 2014, and his career is marked by remarkable versatility, playing for eight different major league franchises.
