Raphael Akpejiori is a Nigerian heavyweight boxer born on 10 October 1990 in Lagos, who has earned the nickname "The Nigerian Hurricane" for his devastating punching power. Before entering the ring, he pursued a diverse athletic career, playing college basketball at the University of Miami and even earning a tryout with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, all while obtaining both bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering. After turning professional in 2018 under the guidance of former champion Glen Johnson, Akpejiori stormed through his early career with a string of spectacular first and second-round knockouts, building an impressive unbeaten record. His undefeated streak came to an end in July 2023 when he was stopped in the second round by Arslanbek Makhmudov while challenging for the WBC-NABF heavyweight title in Toledo, Ohio.
