Marvel Studios, originally founded as Marvel Films in 1993 by producer Avi Arad and reorganized under its current name in 1996, is the powerhouse production company behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Since 2007, the studio has been led by Kevin Feige, who became its president in 2008 and has produced every MCU film, with The Walt Disney Company acquiring the studio's parent company in 2009. The studio has released 38 interconnected films—from Iron Man (2008) to Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)—as well as 17 television series since 2021, all sharing a single continuity, alongside animated projects and special presentations. The MCU is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, earning over $30 billion globally, with Avengers: Endgame (2019) briefly holding the title of the highest-grossing film ever made. In December 2019, Marvel Television was folded into the studio, which now uses the Marvel Television and Marvel Animation banners for its streaming and animated releases. Beyond the MCU, the studio has also contributed to other billion-dollar franchises, including the X-Men and Spider-Man film series.
