Valentín "Colo" Barco (born 23 July 2004) is an Argentine midfielder who currently plays for Premier League club Chelsea and the Argentina national team. He burst onto the scene at Boca Juniors, making his professional debut in 2021 and starring in the 2023 Copa Libertadores, where he scored a decisive shootout penalty, performed a viral "standing on the ball" trick against Palmeiras, and started in the final against Fluminense. After moving to Brighton in January 2024 for around $10 million, he had loans at Sevilla and Strasbourg before signing for Chelsea in August 2026 for £34 million on a seven-year contract, scoring his first goal against Leeds United in September. Internationally, he debuted for Argentina in March 2024 and was selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he gained headlines for being slapped on the head by England's Jude Bellingham after the semi-final.
