Youssouf Fofana (born 10 January 1999 in Paris) is a French professional footballer of Malian and Ivorian descent who plays as a midfielder for Sevilla, on loan from AC Milan. He began his professional career with Strasbourg in 2018, won the Coupe de la Ligue in 2019, and then transferred to Monaco for €15 million in January 2020, where he showcased his talents before joining AC Milan in August 2024. On the international stage, Fofana played a crucial role for France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, featuring in six matches and starting the semi-final victory over Morocco, though the team ultimately lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout in the final. He scored his first international goals during Euro 2024 qualifying, including a stunning strike from 25 meters against Greece. Recognized for his physical strength, stamina, and pressing ability as a defensive midfielder, Fofana has since adapted to a box-to-box role, adding goal-scoring threats to his game while also lifting the Supercoppa Italiana with Milan.
