Juan Rafael Fuentes Hernández (born 5 January 1990) was a Spanish professional footballer who played as a left-back, beginning his career at hometown club Córdoba CF with his debut in October 2009 and becoming a regular starter in the Segunda División, scoring his first senior goal in March 2013. He then stepped up to La Liga with RCD Espanyol in June 2013, making his top-flight debut against Celta de Vigo, before joining CA Osasuna in August 2016 and terminating his contract after their relegation in July 2017. After six months without a club, Fuentes signed with English side Nottingham Forest in February 2018 under manager Aitor Karanka, but his only Championship appearance came in a 3–0 win over Barnsley in April 2018, during which he broke his leg. The serious injury effectively ended his professional playing days, leading him to announce his retirement in December 2019 at age 29. His career trajectory showcases a rise from the second tier of Spanish football to the top flight, only to be cut short by a devastating injury.
