Founded in 1893 as a British athletic and cricket club, Genoa Cricket and Football Club is Italy's oldest existing football team. They made history by winning the inaugural Italian Championship in 1898 and subsequently claimed a total of nine league titles (the last in 1923–24) plus one Coppa Italia, making them the fourth most successful club in Italy. Since 1911, the team has played at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, sharing it with local rivals Sampdoria in the passionate Derby della Lanterna, first contested in 1946. After adopting their iconic red and navy (rossoblù) colors in 1901, Genoa earned international recognition for its heritage, being named a "cultural capital" in 2011 and joining the exclusive "Club of Pioneers" in 2013 alongside Sheffield F.C. and Recreativo de Huelva. Today, they still compete in Serie A, carrying a legacy that spans over 130 years.
