Shan Masood Khan, born on 14 October 1989 in Kuwait, is a Pakistani left-handed batter who has represented the national team since 2013, after his family fled to Karachi during the Gulf War. He captained Pakistan in Test matches from 2023 to 2026 and has also led domestic sides like Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Yorkshire. A Durham University economics graduate, he made his Test debut in October 2013 against South Africa, but his breakthrough came in July 2015 when his maiden century against Sri Lanka helped Pakistan complete their highest successful chase. He went on to score further Test centuries in December 2019 and February 2020, alongside an ODI debut in March 2019. Notably, in 2022 he became the first Derbyshire player to hit back-to-back first-class double centuries. His cricket lineage includes his father, Mansoor Masood Khan, who sat on the PCB governing board, and his uncle, Waqar Masood Khan, Pakistan's longest-serving Federal Secretary for Finance.
