Microsoft Movies & TV (also branded Films & TV) was a digital video storefront for Windows and Xbox, allowing users to rent or purchase HD movies and TV shows while managing their personal collections. The service originated on November 14, 2006, as the Zune Marketplace and Xbox Live Video Marketplace, rebranding as Xbox Video in October 2012 and finally becoming Movies & TV in 2015. Competing with iTunes and Amazon Video, it introduced 1080p streaming in 2009 and rejoined the Movies Anywhere digital locker program in August 2018. Over time, its app was superseded by the new Media Player on Windows 11 and Windows 10 in 2022 and 2023, while the Xbox 360 app ceased functioning on July 29, 2024. On July 18, 2025, Microsoft abruptly discontinued purchasing and renting on the platform, marking the end of its long-running consumer video service.
