Chelsea Handler (born February 25, 1975) is an American comedian and TV host who rose to fame hosting the hit late-night show Chelsea Lately on E! (2007–2014) before transitioning to Netflix with Chelsea Does (2016) and Chelsea (2016–2017). Raised in Livingston, New Jersey, as the youngest of six in a Jewish-Mormon household, she faced early tragedy with the hiking death of her eldest brother and later lost her mother to breast cancer in 2006. Her comedy career began at 21 after she told a courtroom story about her DUI arrest, and she later hosted the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, becoming just the second woman to do so solo. In 2012, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world, a testament to her cultural impact.
