Dylan Larkin (born July 30, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey center who plays for the Detroit Red Wings, the team that drafted him 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to turning pro, he developed his game with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program before starring at the University of Michigan. In his standout freshman season (2014-15), Larkin led all college freshmen in scoring during January, recorded a five-point game against Ohio State, and became the first Michigan freshman to reach 40 points since 2007-08. His exceptional rookie campaign earned him the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award, along with All-Big Ten First Team and Second Team All-American honors. This outstanding collegiate performance paved the way for his immediate impact in the NHL, solidifying him as a cornerstone player for the Red Wings.
