Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner (12 February 1932 – 11 September 2026) was a prominent member of the Norwegian royal family, being the last surviving child of King Olav V and the older sister of King Harald V. Following her mother's death in 1954, she served as Norway's first lady until her brother's marriage in 1968, representing the monarchy on state visits and ceremonial duties. In 1961, she married commoner Johan Ferner despite church opposition, with the couple raising five children. During World War II, she fled the Nazi invasion with her family and spent the war years in exile in Washington, D.C., later studying economics at Oxford University. As a great-granddaughter of King Edward VII and a second cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, she remained active in public life, chairing the Crown Princess Märtha Memorial Fund and patronising organisations supporting children with dyslexia.
