Warren Sapp (born December 19, 1972) was a dominant NFL defensive tackle who played 13 seasons, spending his first nine with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his last four with the Oakland Raiders. A standout at the University of Miami, he won the Lombardi, Bronko Nagurski, and Bill Willis trophies in 1994, and was drafted 12th overall in the 1995 NFL Draft despite last-minute rumors of failed drug tests that the NFL publicly denied. With Tampa Bay, Sapp earned seven Pro Bowl and four first-team All-Pro selections, helped lead the franchise to its first championship in Super Bowl XXXVII, and retired with 96.5 sacks—the third-highest career total for a defensive tackle. His aggressive, hard-hitting style and occasional verbal outbursts made him a controversial figure, yet his impact earned him induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013 and a retired number from the Buccaneers, one of only three players so honored. Before his storied college career, he excelled at Apopka High School in Florida, where his ferocious tackle gave a concussion to future MLB star Johnny Damon. After retiring, Sapp also worked as a broadcaster and briefly served as an assistant coach for the Colorado Buffaloes from 2024 to 2025.
