Curt Cignetti (born 1961), the son of hall of fame coach Frank Cignetti Sr., is the head football coach at Indiana University, having previously led IUP, Elon, and James Madison. He is the only college football coach to start 10-0 with two different teams in consecutive seasons, doing so with James Madison in 2023 and Indiana in 2024, where he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and secured the Hoosiers' first-ever College Football Playoff berth. In 2025, Cignetti repeated as Big Ten Coach of the Year, guiding Indiana to a perfect 12-0 regular season, their first Big Ten title since 1967, and ultimately a national championship—the first in program history—with a flawless 16-0 record, the first FBS team to achieve this since the 1894 Yale Bulldogs. This astonishing turnaround, transforming the losingest program in college football history into national champions, is considered one of the greatest in the history of American sports. Before his head coaching success, Cignetti played quarterback at West Virginia and served as an assistant under Nick Saban at Alabama, where he helped win a national title in 2009 and recruited stars like Russell Wilson and Julio Jones.
