Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Rahmanullah Gurbaz is an Afghan cricketer born on 28 November 2001 in Khost, Afghanistan, who overcame a challenging upbringing and family opposition—his brother once burned his cricket bat—to pursue the sport, playing with improvised equipment before being mentored by coach Mohammad Khan Zadran. He made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in September 2019, but his breakthrough came in January 2021 when he scored 127 runs on his ODI debut against Ireland, becoming the first Afghan batsman to score a century on debut. His explosive batting earned him contracts in major T20 leagues worldwide, including the Bangladesh Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and Lanka Premier League. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was signed by Gujarat Titans in 2022 and later traded to Kolkata Knight Riders, where he played a crucial role in helping the team win their third IPL championship. His younger brothers, Masood and Khalil Gurbaz, are also cricketers, highlighting a growing family legacy in the sport.
