Edmund McMillen
Edmund McMillen (born March 2, 1980) is an American video game designer and artist from Watsonville, California, celebrated for his unconventional Adobe Flash games and unique visual style. His most notable works include the 2010 platformer Super Meat Boy, the 2011 roguelite The Binding of Isaac (co-designed with Florian Himsl), its 2014 remake Rebirth, and the upcoming 2026 game Mewgenics. Growing up in a family of born-again Christians of Mexican descent, his childhood drawings—preserved by his grandmother—heavily influenced his game designs, particularly The Binding of Isaac and Aether. Before his major hits, he created the award-winning Gish and served as the original artist on Braid, before co-founding Team Meat with Tommy Refenes to release Super Meat Boy in October 2010. The development of Super Meat Boy was featured in the documentary Indie Game: The Movie, though McMillen later left Team Meat and was not involved in the sequel Super Meat Boy Forever.
