Maxwell Price Muncy (born August 25, 2002) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). A standout at Thousand Oaks High School in California, he was named Player of the Year by the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Daily News before being selected 25th overall by the Athletics in the first round of the 2021 MLB draft, signing for a $2.85 million bonus. After climbing through the minor leagues, he had a quirky moment in 2024 when he faced the Los Angeles Dodgers' Max Muncy—the two share the same name, were born exactly twelve years apart, and are not related. Muncy made the Athletics' Opening Day roster on March 27, 2025, and hit his first career home run the very next day against the Seattle Mariners' Tayler Saucedo. His path to the majors included solid production, such as a .275/.353/.411 line in 2023 and a strong .278/.374/.491 performance at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2024.
