The Traitors is a reality game show franchise created by All3Media's IDTV, which first premiered as De Verraders on RTL 4 in the Netherlands in 2021. The show places contestants in a historic location like a castle, where a small group secretly becomes the "Traitors" and must eliminate the "Faithfuls" through nightly "murders," while the Faithfuls work to identify and banish them via votes at a Round Table. Gameplay includes missions to build a prize fund, shields that grant immunity from murder, and the option for Traitors to recruit a Faithful if their numbers dwindle. The game concludes with a final vote to end the game; if any Traitors remain, they take the entire prize, but if only Faithfuls remain, they share it. A stage adaptation, The Traitors: Acts of Betrayal, written by John Finnemore and directed by Robert Hastie, is set to premiere at London's Gillian Lynne Theatre in May 2027.
