Liga Deportiva Universitaria (LDU Quito) is a historic Ecuadorian football club based in Quito, competing in the Serie A and playing its home matches at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado, famously known as "Casa Blanca." Officially founded on 11 January 1930 with roots tracing back to a 1918 university team, the club has won 13 national titles, with its most recent championship secured in 2024. Internationally, LDU is the most successful Ecuadorian club, making history as the first (and only) Ecuadorian team to win the Copa Libertadores in 2008. They are one of just six clubs worldwide to achieve the prestigious CONMEBOL treble, having also claimed two Copa Sudamericanas (2009 and 2023) and two Recopa Sudamericanas (2009 and 2010). Their dominant run between 2008 and 2010 earned them recognition as the best South American team for two consecutive years, and they finished as runners-up at the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. The club's early years saw it win its first amateur Pichincha title in 1932 before turning professional in 1954, and it maintains fierce local rivalries with Quito-based clubs like El Nacional and Deportivo Quito.
