CNN-News18 is an Indian English-language news channel based in Noida, co-owned by the Network18 Group and Warner Bros. Discovery (which provides its international coverage). Launched as CNN-IBN on 18 December 2005, it was rebranded to its current name on 18 April 2016. In 2014, Reliance Industries took over Network18 in what was hailed as the biggest-ever deal in the Indian media space. The channel reaches an average of 45 million households daily, making it more popular in India than its CNN International sister network. However, it has also faced criticism for being part of the pro-Modi "Godi media" news outlets.
