Nick Clooney (born January 13, 1934) is a veteran American journalist, anchorman, and television host, widely recognized as the father of actor George Clooney and brother of singer Rosemary Clooney. After serving as a U.S. Army disc jockey in Germany, he rose to prominence hosting The Nick Clooney Show and the national ABC game show The Money Maze (1974–1975). He is best remembered for his serious, in-depth coverage of the devastating 1977 Beverly Hills Supper Club fire while anchoring at Cincinnati's WKRC-TV, a role that helped his station overtake rival WCPO-TV to become the #1 local news program. His career later took him to Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Buffalo, and he also hosted classic films on American Movie Classics. In recent years, he has been a vocal critic of WKRC's current owner, Sinclair Broadcast Group, for its conservative news mandates.
